For a showroom expansion projects – probably one of the biggest in Accra, expecting to last 4-5 years,

We are looking for:

a Quantity Surveyor/ Cost Engineer – Urgently Needed

You will invoice monthly 5500 GHS (the current budget) and this 2nd phase of the project will last from 1st of December 2020 to 31st of October 2021.

Known Retailer is looking to expand their premises with new construction of additional working space and they are in search of a Quantity Surveyor / Cost Engineer Contractor for immediate employment.

Position Summary / Key Responsibilities

  • As Quantity Surveyor
    • Review architectural plans and prepare quantity needs
    • Estimate the quantity and costs of materials
    • Prepare contracts and documents
    • Set budgets for payments, inventory needs, and materials
    • Analyze costs for maintenance and additional building needs
    • Track changes in plans or constructions; update budgets
    • Act as a liaison between clients and site managers/engineers
    • Keep track of construction materials and inventory
    • Identify potential financial or construction risks
    • Advise clients on improvements, strategies, and/or estimated costs
    • Prepare payments for contractors and subcontractors
    • Document progress, materials, and reports on project
    • Advise on property taxes, regulations, and local laws
    • Utilize software to calculate, record, and track inventory and estimates
    • Assist with the drafting of FIDIC documents (Desmond has a law background)
  • As Project Manager
  • Supervision of works being carried out on site
  • Coordination between the various team / contractors / sub-contractors
  • As Quality Control
    • We understand this is not your area of expertise but if and when the need arises to spend time on the site to follow up on these responsibilities, we expect you to be available to do so at the best of your ability.
The ‘Offer:
  • Start Date: Dec 1st 2020
  • Monthly Consultancy invoice: 5,500 GHC (so you pay your own ssnit and taxes from that amount that you will receive as contractor)
  • Consultancy Agreement for 11 months (Dec 2020 – Oct 2021) – may be renewed if we follow immediately with Phase 3
  • Full time position
    • Working hours: Monday -Friday 8AM-5PM. Saturday 8AM- 2PM
    • The above hours may vary depending on activities happening on site
