Our client is a food tech agriculture company dedicated to the sustainable practice of farming edible insects. With a farm in Kumasi, they seek to rapidly scale their production, co-develop packaged products, and take advantage of export opportunities to other West African countries while building a conscious company. Right now we are searching for them to source a:

Food Processing manager/ess M/F

Location: Kumasi 

You must be a passionate individual to have a significant & highly impactful contribution to the organization’s food processing functions/operations and strategy.

We are looking for a professional with bachelor’s degree in Food science and technology, food processing engineering, or any related field with two (2) or more years of work experience in the food processing, food, and beverage industry 

This is a full time position with a salary range between GHS 3000 and GHS 4000.

It’s a 5-day-a week job but individual will be required to work on weekends and observe their off days on a weekday. The position is 100% Kumasi-based.

Qualifications and skills:

○ A degree in Food science and technology, food processing engineering, or any related field with 2 or more years of work experience in the food processing, food, and beverage industry

○ Must have a strong leadership experience

○ Scheduling and running routine production activities

○ Inventory management, budget preparation and production plan scheduling

○ Strong understanding of food safety principles

○ Strong skills in resource (human and equipment) optimization

○ Implementation of food quality management systems such as HACCP and ISO

○ Strong problem-solving skills relating to food processing

○ Strong usage ability of Word and Excel

○ Must have experience managing a team for a minimum of 12 months

○ Must have strong verbal and oral communication

○ Must have the ability to report on one’s activities in written and electronic format and the activities of their team

○ Must have customer service experience

○ Must be self-disciplined and have high integrity

○ Must be able to work on weekends

Responsibilities:

o Manage a team of at least 6 members to prepare products, manage inventory and be efficient in maximizing sales

o Train and retrain processing staff, implement protocol changes across a team

o Following the recipe in making dishes with consistency in taste, appearance, and presentation.

o Track raw materials, finished products, and packaging materials’ inventories

o Prepare processing budget

o Support for the establishment and maintenance of food safety systems

o Support for new products innovations

o Run processing facility operations and keep the facility in order

o Act as the first line of support for troubleshooting and resolving processing issues

o Support for conducting sensory evaluations

o Document & organize information such as health & safety instances, protocols, protocol changes, recipes, sensory feedback, customer feedback

o Prepare existing and new products under strict hygienic protocols

o Innovate packaging ideas for different sales channels

o Innovate processes to optimize the efficiency of personnel, ingredients & time

o Provide support to sales staff

o Provide support to business development operations
